Mac EFS - External File System for the Macintosh using
UNIX via AppleTalk/Ethernet as the file server.

[Alpha release, 03/30/85]

John Seamons, LucasFilm
Bill Croft, Stanford SUMEX

I havent had time yet to cleanup these readme files. This is
a conversion of John's serial port version to run over AppleTalk.
(The serial port version was slow, lacked checksums / retransmission
/ resynchronization / etc.)

Basically you run 'efsd' on your UNIX (as root). And then 'efs'
(once) on your 512K Mac to prompt for servername, username, and
password. The UNIX daemon forks and services requests only from
your Mac. We will shortly add some code to the master daemon
to kill the appropriate child if the Mac user reboots and reattaches
to the server. The daemon tries to 'chdir' into 'mac' in your
home directory (otherwise your Mac volume will end up in your home
directory).

Of course you need an AppleTalk / Ethernet gateway to use this.
[SUMEX]<INFO-MAC>SEAGATE* contains documents and instructions
for building your own.
