This program and all code within is copyright 1998 Willie Macris / Warcry Games.

Do not distribute, decompile, disassemble, sell, modify, or use this product for
any monetary gain other than that derived by using it in it's customary role,
which is to view memos.

If anybody's going to get rich off this, it'll be me. And that's not likely...

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Description:
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

This program is a "viewer" which lets you easily read memos on your Avigo.
By tapping a memo title, you will display it in a "read-only" mode - there is no
editing support in Quick Memo Viewer.

This program is much faster than the built-in Memo Application and has some
additional features as well.

The most useful feature is that you can view multi-part memos as though they were
all one big memo. This is ideal for use with the PC programs Quick Memo, Avigo Doc,
and AvigoToGo because they split big memos into a bunch of small ones.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Getting Started:
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

- To install the application, download "qmv08.app" to your Avigo using Avigo Manager.
- To run the application, tap the QuickMemo Viewer icon in the apps screen.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Changing the Font:
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The Avigo has 5 fonts available which you can change on both the memo list and
the memo view.

The memo list screen and the memo view screen keep their own private font
settings so you can set them individually to best fit your needs.

The font starts out as the basic 11-pixel font just like the built-in Memo app.

To set the font:
- Tap the Font button (labeled with the cursive f symbol) to go to the next font.
- Choose a font from the application menubar.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Changing the Orientation:
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The Avigo can display data in both portrait mode (like the built-in Memo app) and
landscape mode, but none of the built-in programs make good use of landscape.

The memo list screen and the memo view screen keep their own private settings so
so you adjust them to best fit your needs. The screen starts out in portrait mode
but once you change it to landscape mode it will stay in landscape until you
set it back.

To rotate the screen:
- Tap the Rotate button (the circular arrow).

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Changing the Category:
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

QuickMemo Viewer uses the same categories set in the Memo Application.
There is no way to edit the categories from within QMV. Use the Categories to
limit your view of the memos so that you see only certain memos (or All).

To select a category:
- Tap the Category pulldown and choose another Category.
This will redraw the screen to show only the memos in that Category.

Remember that since there can be a Category that has no memos assigned to it,
you will have a blank screen when you select that Category.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Deleting a Memo:
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

You can use QuickMemo Viewer to delete your memos when you're done viewing them.
Using the memo list, you can select one or more memos and then delete them
with one command.

To delete a memo (or memos):
- Tap a memo title to select it, then tap the Delete button (labeled with an X).

Note:
1) After you delete a big memo or many memos, you should optimize memory.
After optimizing, you will have a bunch more memory space available for re-use.

2) When you are deleting memos onscreen, the next memo will be highlighted so that
you can easily delete a whole set of memos.

3) Don't blame me if you accidentally delete your company's vital business data.
There is an "Are you sure prompt" so you're on your own.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Viewing a Memo:
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Using the memo list, you can select one or more memos. This can be confusing if
many memos are highlighted because you will only view the memo on which you tap.

To view a memo:
- Tap that memo twice (double-tap it: the first tap selects the memo,
and the second tap views it)
- Tap again on a previously highlighted memo.

Remember, to de-select the memos, just tap anywhere on the blank area of the screen
(tap somewhere that has no button, menu, or memo title).

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Understanding the Bookmark Feature:
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

A "bookmark" is a way to save your place in a memo. After you set a bookmark,
you can return to the same place in the memo even if you quit QMV and then
re-run it much later.

QuickMemo Viewer will keep one bookmark for each memo. Every time you set a
bookmark, it will replace your last bookmark saved for that memo.

You can use either the menu or the command buttons to set and goto a bookmark.

IMPORTANT:
The "GotoBookmark" button is angular, in accordance with Avigo User Interface
Guidelines. It may look a little odd at first.
(You can press the Schedule hardkey if you want to see another example.)

To set a bookmark on the current screen of a memo:
- Tap the SetBookmark round button (the ROUND button labeled with a page icon).
- Choose the Set Bookmark option from the application menu.

To return to a bookmark you have set:
- Tap the GotoBookmark angular button (the weird button labeled with a page icon).
- Choose the Goto Bookmark option from the application menu.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Understanding the Goto Feature:
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Just for fun, I thought it would be nice to have a way to quickly go to the
top and bottom of a memo. It was actually VERY easy to implement...

To speed things up, when you go to the bottom of a memo, it goes to the top of
the paragraph nearest the bottom of the memo. This may sometimes put you a screen
or so before the very end of the memo data. Don't worry about this behavior,
it's not a bug. It was just a quick way for me to move near the bottom.

To go to the very top of a memo:
- Choose Goto Top from the application menu.

To go to the last paragraph (or so) of the memo:
- Choose Goto Bottom from the application menu.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
New Features In Release 0.81:
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
- BugFix: Bookmarks will now work after you choose "Hide Privates".

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
New Features In Release 0.8:
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
- "Split memo" support: Big text and DOC files that normally show up as many memos
(sub-memos) are automatically combined and shown as one memo.
- Improved Delete will automatically delete all sub-memos that make up a big memo.
- Streamlined user interface.
- You can select more than one memo at a time, so you can easily delete them.
- Bookmarks: you can set a bookmark at any point in a memo, and return to it later.
- Goto: you can easily go to the top of the memo, a bookmark, or the bottom of the memo.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
New Features In Release 0.5:
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
- Capability to Delete a memo, which can be done either by menu command or by button.
- Improved user interface - now has a "selection" concept:
Single-tapping a memo will NOT view it any more, but instead will SELECT the memo.
- Double-tapping a memo will immediately view it.
- Delete button only appears when a memo is selected.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
New Features In Release 0.4:
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
- Uses a Category pulldown to filter memos like the built-in Memo app.
- Saves the current font, category, and orientation settings when you exit the app.
- Slightly different internal buffering in preparation for next big feature update
- Application version shown as part of icon on Application screen
- Cleanly ignores private memos when they are hidden
- Shows a Lock icon for private memos (when they aren't hidden)

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Coming Soon
(planned for a later release):
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
- Show / Hide Private command like the built-in apps - anybody know how to do this???
- Online help? Anybody care about this?
- IR Transfer of memos between Avigos.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Troubleshooting:
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Common Problems:
1) How do I de-select a memo?

Remember, to de-select a memos, tap anywhere on the blank area of the screen
(tap somewhere that has no button, menu, or memo title).

2) I hate using the Exit command - it's such a pain to use!

To quit the program, either select Exit from the menu OR tap the APPS icon.
Using the APPS icon is MUCH faster...

In general, I will be happy to answer questions related specifically to QMV.

Please don't ask me how to download applications to your Avigo, or how to set up
COM ports for Avigo Manager, or how to sync with Organizer, etc etc.

These are totally unrelated to my application, and I don't have a lot of time
to answer this type of question.

Look there first, or email them.

TI Support information:
------------------------
All kinds of setup/config questions have come up in the Discussion Groups area
on the TI site. Take a look and see what you find. It's a pretty decent support
area but not as easy to use (in my opinion!) as the Onelist site.

Warcry Games Support Information:

Go to our website and check the QMV application page to see if there is anything helpful.

I also suggest going to the Links page. This has links to the Onelist mailing-list site
where you can browse the back-issue archives and also join the mailing list. I highly
recommend the Onelist "Avigo" list!

I got the idea for Quick Memo Viewer after seeing Chris Black's Avigo Doc and
Quick Memo programs for the PC.

My program is an excellent companion to both of his programs, as well as the
Avigo-To-Go program which I still have not tried.

Big thanks to Greg Mills for his excellent help with the graphics! Much appreciated.

And of course, thanks VERY MUCH to all the Avigo users who have sent me their comments
and suggestions. Keep the input coming! You're building yourselves a better product.

Later!
Willie Macris
