.TH Command FAIL-SAFE
.SY "fail-safe <SECT>"
The fail-safe command allows you to change the fail-safe code and coordinates
associated with a nuclear device.
.s3
When a nuclear device is first created it is given a fail-safe code of
0 and its fail-safe coordinates are set to the sector in which it resides.
In order to arm the device the fail-safe code must be set to some non-zero
value (1 through 999).
Once a device is armed it will be launched (automatically) at its fail-safe
coordinates if the blast from another nuclear device affects the
sector containing it.
.s3
You must know the fail-safe code to reset the fail-safe code or coordinates.
If the fail-safe code is not given in the allotted time and the device is
armed it will detonate.
.s3
An example of forgetting the fail-safe code:
.EX "fail 12,-2"
.NF +0.3i
1 megaton device in 12,-2 aimed at 25,3
Fail-safe code? (CR to abort) 0
0 is not correct ... The bomb has started ticking!
You have 20 seconds to enter the correct code...
>> 99
Too high!
>> 12
Whew! Got it!
New fail-safe code? 99
New fail-safe coordinates? 20,4
.FI
Note that when you are first asked for the fail-safe code you can
safely chicken out by hitting Carriage Return.
