DEFAULT CONFIGURATION for the modem:

   Duplex Mode           ***** HALF *****

   Signal Rate           300 Baud

   Protocol              =====>  X-ON / X-OFF  <=====     @ 1

   Uart Mode             8 bits, NO parity, 1 Stop bit

 @ 1:  The X-ON/X-OFF protocol is used to transfer files between
       the Osborne and most time-sharing computers other than IBM
       o UNIVAC Iyoari doub abou thcorrec protocol,
       it is generally safe to use X-ON/X-OFF.

       can treat as a `foreign' system, i.e., one not using the
       AMCALL programme.  Use the NULL protocol as a last choice
       sinc i doe no automaticall monito fo transmissio 
       errors during data transfer.

 @ 3:  CTRL-S / CTRL-Q (^S/^Q) toggle switch commands won't work,
       especially since an "S" prompts the Info Globe "Search"
       routines!  Don't use either of these two commands.

NOTE Th Auto-Dia featur doe no wor wit th Datapa 
       (Canada) telecommunication network.   It is necessary to
       dial the DataPac (Canada) telephone number MANUALLY.

NOTE:  It is recommended that you use a modular plug and duplex
       modular jack (splitter and cord) which will allow you to
       hav acces bot throug you regula telephon uni t 
       dia manuall an throug the Comm-Pac to use th auto-
       dia  auto-answe facility  (Se Appendi IIɠ i th 
       Comm-Pac User's Manual.)

NOTE I i als recommende tha yo star ofeacsessio with
        BLAN formatte diskett read i dis driv "B"  I 
       you have a lengthy session with Info Globe, you will want
       to LOG all your work, especially for hard-copies!

       =====>  It might be necessary to use <ESC> Z to exit to
               CP/͠an determin ho muc spac yo hav lef
               o disk drive "B".  (`AMCALL -Z' will return you
               to where you were before exiting to CP/M.)

and replace the telephone receiver.   Once you make a connection,
you follow these instructions step-by-step:

                                to begin the buffer logging.

(then type:)-->   period (.)   and hit the RETURN key.

(then type:)-->   normal Datapac SIGN-ON  (e.g.: 39500032,i)
                  and hit the RETURN key.

(msg:)-------->   DATAPAC: call connected

(then type:)-->   normal Info Globe SIGN-ON using your PASSWORD,   
                  or the demonstration password, if provided,
                  and hit the RETURN key:  aaann/PASSWORD

At this point you will establish contact with Info Globe and can
now proceed with whatever searches or information retrievals you

NOTE Wher  retrieve documen s severa page i lengtha 
       the END of each page, the System will PAUSE - you may
       simply hit the RETURN key t continue o t th NEX page
      unti reachin the END of the document at hand.

       =====>   You may want to SKIP the current document and go
                to another one:  use the appropriate Info
                Globe command/s to do this.

NOTE Th FIRSԠ pag o an documen retrieve wil giv yo 
       both the NUMBER of PAGES and the WORD COUNT for that docu-
       ment.   You should make note of BOTH as this can be impor-
       tant for the proper SAVING of any and all retrieved docu-
       ments.   (See below).

NOTE:  Each LINE of an Info Globe page contains  72  characters.
       Each PAGE of an Info Globe document contains  23  lines.
       (Of course, if you have entered <PC> to print continuously,
       the document will be one long printout!)

          Once you are absolutely certain that you are finished,
yo shoul disconnec you mode telephon jack-connecto t 
forc  complet severanc o an connectio t th Datapa 
lines.

          No yo ar fre t dum th content o you 
"retrievals" file, either onto the screen again or onto a printer.         
** WORDSTAR ** is excellent for the handling of any such files.
If necessary, you can even give a significant name to the "saved"
retrievals through a RENAME.  Using  ** MERGE-PRINT **  under
WordStar will give you multiple copies of the retrievals "saved"
during each session.
