ISP Synario Starter Software
------------------------------------------------------------

Synario Entry and Functional Simulation Starter Software

The powerful design-entry tool on this CD-ROM has all the
capability of the Synario Design Automation Synario-Entry
tools and supports ispLSI 2032, 2032LV, 2032V, 1016 and 1016E
high-density device design as well as designs with all Lattice
Semiconductor GAL devices. The Synario-Entry Starter software
runs under Windows 3.1 or Windows 95. The Synario-Entry Starter
software has a Project Navigator, Schematic Capture, ABEL-HDL
Entry and Compiler facilities, and a Functional Simulator. The
Project Navigator steps you through the process of using the
schematic capture library to develop your logic designs or ABEL
Hardware Description Language to define Boolean equations, truth
tables or state machines. Once the logic definition is complete,
you can verify the logic using the built-in Functional Simulator.

File menu or the Windows 95 Start menu) enter:

   drive:\SYNARIO\SETUP.EXE

where drive is the disk drive letter where you inserted the ISP
   Synario Starter CD ROM.

2. Select the icon for product installations.

3. Follow the instructions that appear on your screen

ISP Synario Starter Fitter

The ISP Synario Starter Fitter is a Lattice Semiconductor-developed
compiler which takes the logic design and transforms it into a highly
optimized ispLSI(R) JEDEC file for downloading to the ispLSI device
on your PC board. During the compilation process, the ISP Synario
Starter Fitter performs architectural synthesis to take advantage of
powerful ispLSI device features such as the XOR function and the
Lattice Semiconductor Global Routing Pool (GRP) and Output
Routing Pool (ORP). The ISP Synario Starter Fitter performs this
synthesis, maps the design to the selected 2032 or 1016 architecture,
and automatically places and routes the design. When the Fitter
completes this process, a standard JEDEC file is produced for
downloading to the device via the Lattice Semiconductor ISP
Daisy Chain Download software.

ISP Daisy Chain Download (IDCD)

The Lattice Semiconductor ISP Daisy Chain Download
software is a DOS or Windows(R) based program which makes
In-System Programming fast and easy. From the PC, you can
simply scan your board and the software determines the number
and types of ISP devices in your daisy chain. All you have
to do is click on the proper JEDEC file for each device and
select the Run Turbo Download command. Devices may be
programmed in a serial daisy chain or in parallel using the
patented Turbo download feature invented by Lattice
Semiconductor. In the Turbo mode, you can program as many as
60 devices, in parallel, in the time it takes to program only the
single largest device. This powerful, time saving feature is only
available from Lattice Semiconductor and our Total ISP technology.

To access the IDCD software, go to the Windows Program Manager.
Open the Lattice Semiconductor program group and double-click
the IDCD icon.

Using WIN32S
------------------------------------------------------------

For Windows 3.11 or earlier, WIN32S Version 1.30 (or later)
is required for the ISP Synario Entry/Sim software to operate
properly. You must load these files FIRST if you do not have
WIN32S Version 1.30 (or later) already loaded on your PC.
To identify the version of Microsoft WIN32S you presently have
installed, check for the existence of a WIN32S sub-directory
under the \WINDOWS\SYSTEM directory. If this directory does not
exist, follow the instructions below to install WIN32S. If this
directory exists, open the WIN32S.INI file and check the WIN32S
version. If the version is below 1.30, follow the directions
below to install WIN32S.

To install WIN32S from Windows File Manager:

1. Select CD-ROM drive and switch to drive:\ALLIANCE\WIN32S\DISK1
   directory
2. Double-click SETUP.EXE
3. Follow the instructions that appear on your screen

------------------------------------------------------------
Using the Acrobat Reader
------------------------------------------------------------

The Acrobat window is divided into three areas:
     * The document area
     * The overview area
     * The toolbar

The document area is for viewing documents. Move through
the text areas using the scroll box or the page advance
icons in the toolbar.

The overview area displays on the left side of the window,
and provides bookmarks or thumbnails for the document.
Bookmarks act as an automated table of contents. You can jump
directly to a topic by clicking the bookmark text. When you
initially open any of the Lattice Semiconductor CD-ROM
documents, only the bookmarks for the main section headings
are visible. You can display and hide the bookmarks for all
document headings and subheadings by clicking on the triangle
to the left of the section bookmarks. Thumbnails are miniature views
of pages that you can click to display the associated page.

The toolbar, located at the top of the window, provides tools for viewing,
navigating, browsing and searching documents. To select a tool, click
its icon or choose it from the Tools menu.

Hypertext Links

Each CD-ROM document contains hypertext links between
related information. A link is a selected area of a document
that you click to jump to another area of the same document
or to another document. Simply click on red or blue text
to move between the linked sections.

For further information on Adobe Acrobat or a description
of additional Acrobat features, refer to the Adobe Acrobat
Reader Online Guide. To open the online guide, choose
Acrobat Reader Help from the Windows Help menu.

The Lattice Semiconductor ISP Encyclopedia contains the largest
compilation of technical information on ISP programmable logic
devices (PLDs). Together these documents serve as a comprehensive
reference library for efficiently choosing, designing, and implementing
ISP solutions. These publications may be accessed from a PC using
the Acrobat Reader by Adobe. If you are using a workstation, you can
obtain the Acrobat Reader from the Adobe World Wide Web site.

Lattice Semiconductor Data Book

The Lattice Semiconductor Data Book contains full specifications for
the entire line of Lattice Semiconductor high-performance E2CMOS(R)
devices and design tools. Included are data sheets and architectural
descriptions for the industry-leading ISP high-density PLDs and industry-
standard GAL(R) products from Lattice Semiconductor. The CD-ROM
version includes all the information contained in the printed version plus
a section containing recent product additions and updates.

architecture overviews, application notes, and more practical information
about PLDs and development tools from Lattice Semiconductor.

ISP Manual

The ISP Manual contains a complete guide to using In-System Programmable
devices and design tools. Compiled from the collective experience of Lattice
Semiconductor Applications Engineers and our customers, this manual
demonstrates how easy it is to design-in and go to full production with Lattice
Semiconductor ISP silicon and software solutions. This manual not only
describes the theory behind ISP technology, but also provides practical
"how-to" ISP solution implementation tips.

ISP Cost-of-Ownership

The ISP Cost-of-Ownership Analysis compares the cost-of-ownership for
ISP and standard PLDs at each stage of their lifecycles: System Design,
System Manufacturing, and Field Repair/Update. A Microsoft Excel
worksheet (Excel v.5, file name: isp_coo5.xlw and Excel v.4,
file name: isp_coo4.xlw) is included on this CD-ROM which
allows you to create a customized cost analysis.
