The Xilinx Foundation series provides complete, shrink-wrapped design systems including both front-end (CAE) design tools and back-end implementation software in a tightly integrated environment. Schematic and VHDL synthesis methodologies are supported, with complete simulation capabilities.

The Xilinx Alliance series combines Xilinx’ implementation software with an ‘open systems’ interface and libraries kit as well as the Xilinx developed specialized interface and libraries for Cadence, Mentor Graphics, Synopsys and Viewlogic. These kits include special scripts built in the CAE vendor’s framework to make it a seamless flow for the customer. For example, the designer can call the Xilinx Place & Route tools from a special interface built in the Mentor Framework and thereby have a complete, front-to-back design solution.
