How to Order Documents

Ordering the PCMCIA Packet
The easiest and most complete way to obtain a hard copy of everything is to order our PCMCIA Packet, since not all of our documentation is available in electronic form yet. The packet also includes the design files of our free reference design on diskette. To order a copy, send E-mail to
literature@xilinx.com and specifically request the PCMCIA Packet. Include your name, company name, and postal address. Please allow up to two weeks for delivery, possibly more for international locations.

Document Descriptions

X-Note Supplement 2C: Xilinx PCMCIA Device and Package Matrix Update
This matrix lists all of the Programmable Logic Device and thin-package combinations that Xilinx currently offers for PC-Card designs. Included in this table are the useable gate counts and available I/O for each plus the recommended HardWire device for migration to lower cost in high volume production. The latest version of this matrix can be viewed online by clicking here.

X-Note 2C: FPGAs in the PC Card Market
The introduction of Xilinx Field Programmable Gate Arrays (FPGAs) in Thin Quad Flat Packs (TQFPs) as well as 3.3V operation has made possible the use of programmable logic in battery powered and space restricted applications. This X-Note focuses on the PCMCIA market, and applications where programmable logic is used today.

Application Note: Speed PCMCIA Modem Design with FPGAs
This application note shows an example hardware implementation of the bus interface logic for a PCMCIA 2.0 Fax/Modem card using a Xilinx XC2018 FPGA. Design files are also available in ViewLogic Schematic format.

Application Note: Incorporating CIS in XC4000 PCMCIA Designs
This application brief describes a simple process for implementing the CIS structure on-chip using a Xilinx XC4000 FPGA device.

PCMCIA Packet
The PCMCIA Packet contains a hard copy of all of the Xilinx PCMCIA literature plus a diskette of the design files of our free reference design. Currently, none of these documents are available in electronic form.

AllianceCORE Product Documents
AllianceCORE products are developed, sold and supported by Xilinx third party AllianceCORE partners. The AllianceCORE PCMCIA products in the table above form a complete solution for PC Card design using Xilinx FPGAs, and are available directly from Mobile Media Research, Inc.
