XACTstep Product Series
![]() |
XACTstep software solutions are available in three product series, making it easy for designers to choose the right system for their needs. All three support our broad spectrum of programmable logic IC families, allowing users to standardize on tools and design flows for all programmable logic applications. |
XACTstep Core Technology
All XACTstep Software Solutions include powerful design implementation software, required for the physical implementation of logic designs into the targeted programmable logic device. This software integrates into the complete spectrum of logic design tools and methodologies, and offers the following key features to deliver optimum design results:
These capabilities enable automatic design implementation for all Xilinx device families, including the most complex designs. In addition, powerful auto-interactive tools and techniques provide designers with the flexibility to optimize design performance or utilization, and to efficiently manage design changes at any stage of the design process.
XACTstep Core Configurations
The Xilinx Foundation and Alliance product series are available in four core configurations, providing users with a cost effective way to match their design tools to the gate densities and design methodologies they require.
CPLD configurations provide solutions for Xilinx CPLD families, including the XC9500 and XC7300.
Base configurations feature push-button design flows for FPGA and CPLD devices up to 5,000 gates.
Standard configurations combine push button design flows with powerful auto-interactive capabilities for FPGA and CPLD devices up to 30,000 gates.
HD configurations provide the core tools and EDA integration support needed to design all Xilinx programmable logic devices, including the largest FPGA devices of the 4000EX family (Alliance Series only).
The
Foundation Software Series provides designers with a complete shrink-wrapped
solution for programmable logic design. This fully integrated tool set
allows users to access design entry, synthesis, implementation, and simulation
tools from a single graphical design environment. The Foundation Series
features support for standards based HDL design, including VHDL and ABEL.
Interactive HDL editing wizards and a multi-media VHDL tutorial help turn
new users into experts quickly and easily. Foundation Series configurations
are available for PC compatible platforms.
The
Alliance Software Series is for designers who want to integrate
Xilinx programmable logic design software into their existing EDA tool
environment. With this series, designers can choose from the widest range
of integrated design solutions in the industry, spanning schematic capture,
synthesis, and PLD language based design methodologies and tools. Standards
based design interfaces including EDIF, Verilog, and VHDL / VITAL simplify
integration with EDA design environments and flows. For leading EDA environments,
Xilinx includes libraries and design kits in Alliance Series configurations.
Alliance Series configurations are available for PC compatible, Sparc compatible, HP, and IBM RS6000 workstation platforms.
The
System Level Integration (SLI) Software Series provides software
products and technologies that enable designers to build complex, system-level
applications with programmable logic. Xilinx LogiCoreTM
solutions are the first set of products in the SLI Series. LogiCores are
fully verified and pre-implemented system level functions that designers
can utilize into programmable logic designs. Utilization of these functions
can save up to 6 months of design time, resulting in dramatic savings in
engineering resources and acceleration in time to market.
Initial LogiCore offerings feature a complete, fully implemented PCI bus interface module. Additional modules for DSP, telecommunications, and complex logic applications are currently in development.
